Katie Couric asked ‘irrelevant’ questions

Posted by Vinoj on Oct 27, 2008 in Uncategorized

Sarah Palin has said that she was, “kind of annoyed,” by the questions that Katie Couric asked in the now-famous going-down-in-flames interview, because they were irrelevant to the state of national security and getting the economy back on track.

So what exactly DID Couric ask about? Here they are (from CNN):

The economy and national security, focusing in particular on the congressional bailout package, the mortgage crisis, John McCain’s record on regulation, the war in Afghanistan, hunting terrorists in Pakistan, Russia, Iran, Syria, Israel and the role of the United States in the world.

But don’t fret! She was completely fine when Couric finally DID ask her a question that she knew something about:

“But I think the one question that I answered that everyone could agree on, it maybe shows where my heart is… too is, she asked me this relevant question: What was my favorite movie? And I said ‘Hoosiers!’”

Everyone groan together, please.

Terry Tate tells Sarah Palin what’s up

I have no idea how they did this video, but God bless special effects. In case you were wondering, ‘Drill baby drill’ was chanted at the Republican National Convention this year.

McCain and Obama joke around for a bit

Posted by Vinoj on Oct 17, 2008 in Uncategorized

Ah, finally some goodwill out of these campaigns. Obama and McCain were at a fundraiser and absolutely roasted each other (and themselves) for one night.

Kudos to both of them for being able to laugh at themselves.

Sarah Palin does wonderfully at interviews.

Posted by Vinoj on Sep 24, 2008 in Uncategorized

Now I didn’t get to see the Charlie Gibson interview yet, but I just got to see the CBS interview with Katie Couric, and lemme tell ya– she’s quite interesting in her interview skills. Cyclical logic, stumbling over even moderately ‘tough’ questions, inability to field questions, and repeating a through-line again and again, hoping that the interviewer will just drop an issue. Where have we seen that before?

Anyway, I’m not going to blame her shortcomings on McCain– he seems like a smart guy. I may not agree with some of his politics, but overall he’s a whole lot better than some of the field that was running against him. (Guiliani, Thompson, Romney, etc.) I just think he just made a colossal blunder in picking a running mate that doesn’t bolster his decision making skills at all.

Quote of the Day

Posted by Vinoj on Jun 5, 2008 in Uncategorized

I have to actually put the whole conversation in here, first check out the New York Times elections graphic.

Vinoj: this graphic is AMAZING

Jason: ?

Vinoj Zacharia: nytimes

Jason: oh yeah-I love stuff like that

Vinoj Zacharia: i wish i could select different options. men, under 30, some college

Jason: me, too

Vinoj Zacharia: but even still, this is impressive.

Jason: But the college column is pretty consistent, no surpriing. The black vote is also astounding

Vinoj Zacharia:
oh totally. i’m really worried– i’m an obama supporter, and even WITH the option of hillary on the ticket with him i dont see it changing the views of the WV voter types

Jason:
My wife and I were talking about this last night.

Vinoj Zacharia:
have you seen this?

Jason:
We decided that the best thing for the country would be this in November:

Jason
Obama/Clinton vs. McCain/Rice

Vinoj Zacharia
WOW
<-- mind officially blown

Jason
What do the bigots do then?

HAHAHAHA. Gotta love it.
