The CEO of Japan Air Lines has cut his own perks and salary for the past 3 years running. And when I say perks, I’m not saying he decided to fly First Class instead of having a private jet, a la Big Three Automakers.
No, I mean he takes the bus to work, sits in the common bullpen for doing his job, stands in line for lunch with everyone else at the cafeteria, and yes, even makes LESS than his own pilots. His pay? $90,000 US dollars.
I think it’s imperative that this video and the message get out. If someone else has a blog, I’d recommend linking to it as well.

-Phillip, when I told him I’ll buy him water at lunch. Oh. I guess for a frame of reference you should know that he’s black.

Takers? That’s it. I have GOT to get a ticket onboard Emirate Airlines’ new A380– first class, please. And I’d appreciate it greatly if it were a flight that was trans-Atlantic or longer. Like, let’s say NY-Dubai-NY. I wouldn’t even have to actually stay in Dubai. I could totally just wait at the airport for a few hours, and then catch the next flight back.
Oh and don’t worry about flying me to Los Angeles, I’ll be gracious enough to buy that ticket myself.
So let’s say sometime where I can go on a Friday night and come back by Monday morning in time for work? Thanks. Appreciate it.

Sure, a lot of OU fans were hoping that the Longhorns would go down to the Red Raiders in Lubbock. Oddly, many of the odds-makers predicted it, even though Tech was ranked lower. But Tech provided some amazing ingenuity and guts down the stretch, and pulled off the upset. I’m sure a lot of OU thought, “If Texas loses to Tech and we beat Tech, OU goes to the Big 12 Championship, and the national championship game.”
Unfortunately, it’s not that easy. To best illustrate it, I’d forward you to the following blog, which breaks it down in detail. The rules are there, but the what-ifs will drive you crazy. There are so many options on what could happen in the Big 12 South that it’s virtually anybody’s ranking to take, even still.
As much as I love my Sooners, I see a loss coming either with Tech (in Norman) or the Cowboys (at Stillwater). So stay tuned.
Update as of 11/12/08:
ESPN has put up an article that if OU were to win the next two games against Tech and OSU (and that’s a big if), they may actually have a chance to jump Texas in the rankings and go to the Big 12 Championship game even if Texas wins out. I’ve read this on other sports sites as well. As I said earlier- stay tuned…
